Carnon's location puts her in a priviledged position on the Languedocian coast. Directly accessible to Montpellier by an expressway , 5km from the Fréjorgue airport , this seaside resort possesses a 6km beach , from Palavas to la Grande-Motte. A beach with fine sands sqeezed between l'étang de l'Or and the sea.

Created during "les années folles" (the 20's) , Carnon first developped without much coherance ; then taking advantage of an extension and a re-structuring plan , she gained finally an irresistible charm. In downtown , the marina with a capacity of 700 places for docking boats, the numerous businesses, restaurants, and bars assure activity up to 1am in the morning.

This community , during off season , has but 2500 inhabitants but it has a capacity to receive 40,000 people thanks to hotels , camping which can hold up 400 people and the many appartments for hire.

More than 30 associations bend head over heels to satisfy everyone : fitness, tennis, canoeing , kayaking , surfing, swimming and golf are practised. For the less sportive , mini-golf , river tours on the "canal du Rhone à Sète", a game of "petanque" at the port and exposition at the Polyvalente hall are suggested.

During the 2 months of summer , there is a different spectacle each night: theater , jazz concert , recitals , flea market and a fair displaying hand -made items. An ideal environment for family vacations.
