The
Regional Natural Park of Camargue has a surface area of 100,000
hectares . It lies between the two arms of the Rhone river
( Petit-Rhone & Grand-Rhone), extends to the counties
of Arles and Saintes -Maries-de-la-Mer.
The
Camargue territory is semi water and semi-land ; it is a sanctuary
for a unique and protected fauna.
Visitors
are welcome to discover Camargue but have an obligation to
respect the natural equilibrium of the flora and the fauna.
Several choices are available to the visitor : by foot , one
can take the indicated paths, the "digue à la
mer, the path which is parallel to the "étang
de Vaccares" or the numerous markd paths which indicate
the way to the ornithological park. By horse-back , one can
enjoy the horses and bulls roaming in semi-liberty.
