The
Corbieres region is located in the Aude department; Languedoc-Roussillon
region.
It extends from the mediterranean coast in the East, the foothills
of the Pyrénées mountains in the South and the
city of Carcassonne in the North.
The vegetation is mainly garrigue but also planted vines which
produce an excellent wine, AOC classified : the "Corbieres".
The coast has small fishing ports as well as the commercial
port of Port-la-Nouvelle, constructed in 1820.
Two main cities : Narbonne and Carcassonne.
The Corbieres region is noted for its tourism, be it the coastal
portion (Gruissan, Port Leucate) or inland with a lot of monuments
to visit such as the Cathar Castles.
