Administrative
capital in the department Gard, with a population of 130000 people,
Nîmes is one of the most important cities of the region Languedoc-Roussillon.
Turned
towards the past as well as the future, Nimes is in the process
of undergoing changes, becoming therefore one of the centers for
'avant-garde' architecture. The main appeal of the ancient city,
of course, is its well kept monuments : the "arenes",
the "Maison carré", the "Jardins de la Fontaine",
the "Tour Magne",etc.

The
new direction has called upon the greatest architects of our time
to re-think the organization of down-town and to ornament the city
with new buildings (Wilmotte, Nouvel, Foster, Starck,...)
The
result is that of a city with pleasant walks and with many hidden
small shaded squares.
